About Jill and her horses

I have owned and trained my own horses since childhood.

I started taking riding lesson when I was 9 years old and in my 11th year, my parents and I took on a severe neglect case whom we daubed Trooper. Sadly, he died a year later of heart failure. But he taught me that what ever you do in life, do it joyfully. Because the beauty of the day is not in the clouds, the sun, the moon, or how you are treated in life, but in the Attitude in which you put yourself into.

When I was 12 my parents bought me an Appaloosa gelding called Premo Love, and a free 20 year old Quarter Horse gelding named Red Rock. These horses are my foundation horses. They are the ones who taught me what I know and teach today.

My parents had told me upon bringing these horses home, that they could not afford for me to have riding lesson too, because of owning the two horses. As any one who ever got a horse as a kid can relate, I couldn't have cared less!

Red became my horse, and in no time he was my new instructor who taught me how to ride bareback at the walk, trot, canter, gallop, and the emergency dismount in all 4 gaits. Being that he was a former gaming horse, his one speed was Fast. And because of that, it was a "do or die" kind of learning. But it made me into a rider that knows how to stick to a horse, and when to get off. Because I did not have the ego of the horse world around me to influence the way I played with my horses, my years with them was precious. I learned through both Red and Premo what family really means to horses. They taught me the pecking order and how the lead horse works with in the herd. They were MY heard, and I was a part of theirs. And just like any horse, I had to start at the bottom of the pecking order and work my way up. Both horses had a lot of issues, and bad habits. So over those childhood years, I learned (mostly the hard way) how horses:

- Communicate

- Their Herd Behavior,

- Herd/Horse Games, and

- How to help the Problem horse

Because of them, to others I could seem to "know things" before they happened around horses. But the simple truth is, that I had learned how to read a horse in THEIR Language. Every thing I have learned is from the best Instructors out there......and they are the horses that have touched my life.

There were many other horses, who taught me many things along the way. And different Instructors/Trainers who gave bits and pieces of information, but mostly just let me watch them work their magic. So to all of them I am truly grateful.

My current show horse is a grade Arabian mare, I named Sapphire's Charm. When I first got her, she was so petrified of humans that she would cower in the back of her stall any time some one came into the barn. Not to mention she was absolutely terrifying to ride. But I saw a spark of life inside her, and knew that if some one just gave her a chance, she would shine like the jewel she is today. Almost 4 years later, she and I are working into Dressage, and have just started Bridleless Riding! Our goal is go as far as we can, and want to go! She is my Advanced Liberty horse, whom I hope to take into trick training, and who I use in lessons to help people to become better in communicating with horses. She is a super sweet mare, and every one loves her wherever we go. Not to mention that she loves people so much now, she is in every ones pockets, and is her sweetest to children. I am extremely grateful for her, and all that she has taught me.

We look forward to helping other horses and humans break their Prey/Predator relationship, and help them have the Dream relationship both have been waiting for!
